Hopefully by now your business has claimed its Google My Business Listing. If not, here are instructions. If you run into any trouble, we are happy to help!

Why is Google My Business So Important?

Google My Business has become the first item Google searchers look at. They look at it before your website and before your social media, and the reason is simple. Google gives it top billing in a search result and in its algorithm. All of your information is right there, from a map to your location, a link to your website, Google reviews, list of services and the new “Question & Answer” function which allows potential customers to provide specific problems they have and for you to tell them how you would solve them.

Your Google My Business listing must be managed just as frequently as your website. As users are trained by Google to use GMB more and more (i.e. the Question & Answer function) it will require constant up-keep. And that’s a good thing!

Updating your GMB listing is not very time consuming. Keeping track of the hours you are open (and changing them for holidays, etc.), responding to reviews, and answering your questions in “Questions & Answers” can all be done on one platform and helps immensely with your SEO. Google wants fresh, up to the minute information and they give priority to GMB listings that provide just that.
