LinkedIn has announced a brand new feature called your “LinkedIn Video Cover Story”. This feature, which is being rolled out this week, will allow LinkedIn users to film short videos introducing themselves to the world of LinkedIn. Essentially a video profile/resume, your video cover story is a great way for clients, potential leads, and hiring businesses to get to know your personality and your “professional story.”

How Will Your LinkedIn Video Cover Story Work?

Once you add your Cover Story, an orange ring will appear around your Profile photo, and a preview of your video will auto-play silently within your photo frame (we like to think of it as the “Harry Potter” effect). And, stay tuned for captioning capabilities coming soon.

At Scribendi we could not be more excited for this new feature. These stories can be easily leveraged to strengthen your brand culture, especially for the most prominent client-facing members of your organization.  Even the most camera shy professional can make a short video showing their passion for and experience in their field. Eventually every employee at your company should make their video cover story – we can even help to write out a script of sorts so that they don’t have to try to improvise.
